Soo... it's been a while eh? A lot has been going on, and in fact, nearly all of it is post-worthy. And yet, this blog is empty. I know, I'm a slacker. If its any consolation, I have come up with several posts in my head. They were great too! Really good stuff. I hereby promise to put one of them up by tomorrow.
The End.
Buying a house is hard work. Its stressful, and quite frankly, not as much fun as I originally thought it would be. Luckily, the world is full of good jokes to help me relax a little...
An infinite number of mathematicians walk into a bar. The first one orders a beer. The second orders half a beer. The third, a quarter of a beer. The bartender says "You're all idiots", and pours two beers.
EDIT: How about this one?
I used to think math was no fun, 'Cause I didn't get how it's done. Now Euler's my hero, For I see why zero Equals e^(i*pi)+1
Or this one
int factorial(int sum) { if (sum == 1) return 1; if (sum != 1) return product(sum, factorial(sum - 1)); }
Haha! Good stuff.
Buying your first house is like learning a new dance. It's hard. That may just be me though, I suck at dancing.
Erin and I spent that last few months picking through the houses in Pflugerville. (Isn't that a fun name? The 'P' is silent for those of you who don't speak Pflugervillese.) We finally had it narrowed down to the top three houses, which we decided to go see with our real-estate agent, Lisa, last Saturday afternoon. I guess we just had our hopes up too high. None of the houses really had exactly what we were looking for. One of them may still be a possibility but it definitely needs a lot of work before moving in.
After a disappointing first day we decided to open up our search to include a completely different city, Cedar Park. It turns out that Cedar Park is significantly more expensive than Pflugerville, presumably due to better school's and higher-grade Wal-Marts. Erin and I were even less happy with most of the homes that turned up in our price range there. Never-the-less, the search continues.
Erin has the day off today so she is out with Lisa for a few hours trying to narrow down the list a little further. Go Erin!
Over the course of the past week I have received requests from all three of my regular readers, to post a non-technical update on my blog. I'm honored and touched that so many of you (3 is a lot!) want semi-frequent updates on myself, my thoughts, and what is going on in my life. I appreciate your concern, your thoughts, and your friendships. In the spirit of that appreciation, I'm dedicating this post to anyone and everyone who considers themselves a regular viewer of my blog! ![]()
10/18/2008- We lost another soccer game.
10/20/2008- Our realtor tried to talk D. R. Horton into selling us a new home for <$160k.
10/21/2008- D. R. Horton thinks their house is worth $165k minimum. We walked away.
10/25/2008- Erin ran the Live Strong 5k with a couple of friends from our ward. She beat her previous record by an amazing 3 minutes! She then followed that victory with an outstanding performance at a soccer game later in the day. We tied that soccer game 3-3. We were winning 3-1 until the last 2 minutes when the ref awarded one of their guys a penalty kick. Instead of him taking the kick (which would have been worth only 1 goal), he let a girl take it which made it worth 2 goals. That should be illegal. On the plus side, I scored one of our 3 goals.
10/29/2008- Erin and I met our stake presidency for the first time. Too bad they're being released in two weeks.
10/31/2008- Halloween. Erin and I both voted early. Good times. We also discovered that stores in Austin don't sell pumpkins after October 28. We watched movies all night and both fell asleep during 'The Davinci Code'. Also, UT lost to Texas Tech.
11/1/2008- We lost another soccer game 4-2. This time we were tied until the last quarter of the game. I really wish our teammates would show up to these games.
11/2/2008- Erin and I drove all over town narrowing down our list of possible houses, so that we can let our agent know which ones are really possibilities. We got a Halloween package from Mom! It actually made it in before Halloween, but we only check the mail once or twice a week. Thanks Mom! Later that night Erin told me that I need to update my blog. She suggested the title "To G1 or Not to G1? That is the G1... I mean, question!" referring to my ongoing debate as to whether or not we should ditch Verizon so that I can get a decent cell phone.
11/3/2008- I lost my passport. But then I found it.
I realized that another post about cell phones would be a tech-post, so I had to come up with a new idea. This is the best I could do. Later today I plan on telling our apartment office folk that we're moving out. Woo Hoo!
11/4/2008- TBA
11/15/2008- We found our house!
11/25/2008- Denver and Evanston, Here we come!
